This is not an exhaustive list, but it is a good snapshot of my identity. I created this website because I believe in the power of the written word to heal and transform. In February of 2024, I read a notes app diary entry at the Dark City Poet Society open mic. This terrifying and vulnerable moment was the start of my journey as a poet. It opened my eyes to the possibilities of sharing my work with an audience. Simply put, I write to process. I write to better understand myself and the chaos of this world. I do not consider myself an expert in any given area. I embrace mess and uncertainty. I am a lifelong learner, and there will always be room for growth. I will use this space to share what speaks to me.
My work is guided by social justice, anti-racism, radical love, and feminist principles. I believe in the philosophy of teaching others how to fish. In other words, I strive to empower others to problem-solve, seek out resources, and make informed decisions.
To close, I will share a quote that I have used as a guide for many years now.
“Become a beginner again. We lose something wonderful when it becomes more important to us to be the one who knows than to be the one who’s open to the everyday wonders around us. Those who think they know it all have no way of finding out they don’t.”
